The fastest-growing university in the state system is the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. The school is tucked into University City, the northeastern section of Charlotte. Other colleges in Charlotte are Central Piedmont Community College, the largest community college in both Carolinas, and private schools such as Queens University of Charlotte. Public grade schools in Charlotte are run by the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools, the 2nd-largest public school system in North Carolina and the nation's 20th-largest. The district administers to 161 schools and enrolls 132,000 students. The school district also has 46 schools featuring magnet programs. Several outstanding private schools are also available in the city.
